Figuring out what your dog needs to eat to live the healthiest and longest life possible is hard—especially when you have five dogs like me. For starters, they’re vastly different and need me to pay attention to different things, like their breed, age, poop, skin & coat, allergies… the list goes on.
I spent the first four years lugging home three different bags of dog food for Ellie Bean, Scout, and Mollie Mae based on their needs. So by the time Charlotte and Hank arrived, I knew there was no way I’d be able to add two more bags to the mix.
That’s when I decided to try The Farmer’s Dog—fresh dog food that’s tailored to each pup and delivered right to my door. My only regret is not trying it sooner! Here’s why:
A different bag of food for each dog is inconvenient and confusing
My dogs all have varying needs. Scout is a GSP who loves to duck hunt, play ball, and swim. Hank is a Frenchie who loves to sleep. See my dilemma? The same ol’ regular dog food wasn’t able to suit them both, and I was beyond overwhelmed trying to figure out which brand would be best for each of them.
Luckily, The Farmer’s Dog took the guesswork out of it. All I had to do was take a quiz telling them about each of my pups, and they came up with tailored plans that considered their ages, portions, caloric needs, energy levels, allergies, and etc. I received balanced, human-grade food (designed by vets) right to my door with each pup’s name on it!
Ellie Bean: A picky eater turned beggar
Ellie Bean has always been a picky eater. What she liked one day, she turned her nose to the next. I was constantly trying different toppers just to get her to eat.
The second I placed The Farmer's Dog in front of her, she gobbled it up and has been ever since. Ellie Bean loves that The Farmer's Dog is made with clean human-grade proteins, simple whole foods, and balanced with vitamins and minerals.
Scout: An energetic GSP that loves to run
GSPs are born to run, but as Scout turned one, I noticed that he wasn’t as active as expected for a young GSP.
All that changed when he started eating The Farmer’s Dog. He’s back to his puppy-like self and has long-term endurance that lasts throughout the day. I truly believe it’s because there aren’t unnecessary fillers and byproduct meals that most brands have that can make dogs lethargic.
Mollie Mae: Dull itchy skin is a thing of the past
I tried all the tricks in the book to help Mollie Mae with her dull itchy skin, but nothing worked. I’m talking about olive oil, probiotics, special shampoo… everything.
The only thing to work was The Farmer's Dog—it’s packed with Omega-3 fatty acids, amino acids, and minerals that has made her coat seem shinier, and has stopped her from pausing mid-run to scratch.
Charlotte: No more runny poops
Here’s one thing I didn’t expect to spend so much time doing: looking at my dog’s poop. But with Charlotte, I had to because it was always runny and stinky.
That’s not the case anymore. The Farmer’s Dog is minimally processed and doesn’t include any preservatives—meaning Charlotte can actually digest it and produce healthy-looking poop!
Hank is the most cuddly and laziest Frenchie I have ever met. It’s cute, but it means I need to watch his weight. Most dog food brands don’t tell you how to manage your dog’s weight, but The Farmer’s Dog does… kind of.
They send pre-portioned meals that are suited to his caloric needs, so he’s not getting anything more than his lazy little self needs.
My 5 Dogs Love The Farmer’s Dog
Apart from my dogs loving The Farmer’s Dog, I love it. Plans are customized to fit my dog’s needs and come in convenient serving packs to make feeding easy. They arrive in refrigerated boxes that keep the food safe, and ship automatically, so I never run out of food.
Depending on the size, weight, and details of your pup’s needs, plans start around $2 per day, with 20% off your first order.
