A Step-By-Step Guide To Overhauling Your Dog's Nutrition

Listen, my dog, Nico, is my child. There, I said it. And I go to great lengths to take better care of him than I do myself. Yearly shots? Yep. Multiple walks a day? Yep. All natural food? Yep, but not until recently.

That’s because I figured all high-end dog food brands were good for my boy, but it wasn’t until Nico started to become lethargic and a little on the pudgier side that I really started to pay attention to labels. Turns out that most brands contain a whole lot of fillers, byproducts (whatever that means), and ingredients I can’t even begin to pronounce.

That’s when I knew it was time to overhaul his food. Here’s how I did it:

Step 1: Order Sundays Natural Dog Food

After spending hours scouring the internet for the healthiest dog food out there, I came across Sundays and loved what I was reading in their 600+ 5-star reviews. It’s made with human-grade meat, fruit, and veggies to meet the nutritional levels established by the AAFCO, and none of the synthetic additives that kibbles have.

Step 2: That’s it

You probably thought that overhauling your dog’s food would be more complicated than that, but it’s not. All you have to do is switch to Sundays. Here’s why:

It’s great for picky eaters

Nico is most definitely spoiled and that has turned him into a bit of a picky eater. My wife and I were constantly trying different toppers to get him to eat his food, all of which contained lots of extra calories he didn’t need.

Luckily, he loves Sundays and doesn’t need anything else. Whether it’s the chicken, beef, or turkey mix, he legit licks his bowl clean. And it’s because Sundays air-drying process preserves nutrients and locks in flavors unlike the high heat methods that other brands use.

It’s perfect for when you’re on-the-go

We love exploring all that DC and the surrounding area has to offer, so we knew that we wanted to switch Nico to a food that’d be easy to take with us. Sundays is that food—it’s ready to eat right out of the box.

I don’t need to worry about finding a fridge or freezer, and I can easily toss it in my bag without having to worry about it spoiling. Its air-drying process involves a "kill step," which eliminates pathogens, so unlike freeze-dried raw or frozen raw dog foods, there’s no food safety or handling risk.

It also stays fresh for weeks after opening, so I don’t have to worry about being wasteful when we’re on-the-go.

You get recommendations based on your dog’s needs

All dogs are different. That’s why what works for one doesn’t work for the other. It’s also why I love Sundays. Nico’s plan is based on all sorts of factors like his age, breed, activity level, sensitivities, and more.

All I had to do was take a quick quiz before I was recommended which food would be best for him, and then use the feeding calculator to determine the right amount to feed him. It’s that simple!

Sundays will send a free sample so your pet can try it first

Knowing that Nico is a picky eater, I was happy that he was able to “try before you buy.” Sundays sent us a free 2.5 oz sample, so we could make sure he liked it before we subscribed.

As soon as his bowl was clean, we ordered more. Pricing varies depending on how much you order, but it’s super competitive. It’s only $59 per 40 oz bag with a 4 month subscription + free shipping. Larger bags are also available.

Nico’s puppy-like energy is back

I was nervous that overhauling Nico’s food would be a long and complicated process, but Sundays made it so easy. And ever since we switched to their air-dried food, Nico is running around like a puppy again, which has helped him lose the extra weight.

Seeing him love his food and get back to his playful, energetic self has made us and him so happy. We’re Sundays customers for life now!
